Activities
1. Recap and Expectations (5 min)
• Ask students to recap what they learned last week and remind them of the expectations laid out in Week One.
Project the Week Six Slideshow and go through the slides as you go through each activity.
2. Final Rehearsal of Pitch (30 min)
Have the group come together to complete final rehearsals of their pitch. This is their opportunity to try out any slides and technology before the final presentation.
3. Debrief (20 min)
•Return the students’ personal SMART goals from Week 3.
•Ask students to consider their personal and team goals that they set at the beginning of the program. Were these goals accomplished? What progress was made and what was learned along the way? The discussion should evaluate challenges faced but focus on successes achieved. Highlight the accomplishments of the team and the personal growth that they will take away from the experience. Questions to consider:
o What went well? What didn't go well? Why?
o What challenges did you encounter and how did you overcome them?
o What would you do different?
o Did the team work and communicate well together?
o What part of the program was most valuable for you?
o Did you achieve your personal goals?
• Ask students to consider how they will apply what they have learned.
o How would they share what they have learned with others?
o Is anyone interested in participating in JA Company Program next year from November to April? In this program students would work in groups of 10-20 students and have the help of mentors to start up a business, including producing and selling their product/service. More information can be found at: https://www.jacentralontario.org/company-program/
4. Final Pitch Presentation (60 min)
• Students will present their final product/service idea to the class. The teacher can also decide if they want to invite other guests to watch the presentation or can decide to have students set up a booth in their school to talk to others about their idea. The teacher and other guests can use the Final Pitch Evaluation Form to evaluate the students' pitch.
• Each group will have 5 minutes to present and can be asked questions following the presentation. Students are allowed a maximum of 10 slides.
5. Wrap-up
• Ask students to provide feedback and reflect on learnings from the program. Students can fill out the program survey (provided by your JA Contact).
• All Lean Business Plans should be submitted to JA by end of Week 6 for preliminary judging for the Pitch your Vision pitch competition.
• Tell students about the pitch competition -
Pitch Competition is a virtual event where the top 6 student team finalists will get the chance to present their innovative business idea in front of a panel of judges.
All student’s ideas will be submitted to judges to be reviewed. Judges will select the top 6 teams who will be invited to pitch at a live, virtual event.
All students are invited to watch the live pitches and can cheer on their classmates/school. The event will be hosted after school hours.
• Thank you for participating!
